We believe that the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort is truly one of Bora Bora's real pearls, reached from the airport by a 15 minute boat ride across the lagoon. This purpose built resort opened in June 1998 and it's local designer and owners have created the resort to blend in with the environment and to be sensitive to the culture of the Polynesian peoples of Bora Bora. Where possible local materials have been used in the construction of the hotel and a great deal of the wood that has been used was taken from the trees that were cleared to make way for the resort.
Situated on the Tevairoa Motu on the western side of the lagoon the hotel faces across the lagoon to the main island, and affords the early risers some spectacular sunrises.
There are four categories of accommodation from which to choose, 35 overwater bungalows, 15 premium overwater bungalows, 10 beach suites, and 20 garden suites.
The overwater bungalows offer all the amenities that you would expect from a more expensive 5 star hotel, mini bar, overhead fan, full shower and bath, hair dryer, coffee/tea maker, a king size bed and an international direct dial phone. A special feature of the overwater bungalows are the glass fish viewing panels which frame the bath and wash basin. There is also a glass top table that lets you view the fish from the comfort of your bamboo lounge chair, or you can descend the steps from your private terrace and hand feed the fish. This is truly a very special experience. The only difference between the Standard and Premium overwater bungalows is their location; the Premium are located further out into the lagoon and have an uninterupted view accross the lagoon to the main island.
The beach bungalows offer the same amenities as the overwater bungalows except that the living area is larger and the bathrooms have been enclosed in an outdoor private garden and the bath has been replaced with a jacuzzi. These bungalows have been designed with lovers in mind.
The walled garden/pool bungalows feature all of the facilities of the beach bungalows but they have an outdoor shower and a plunge pool in the garden. We believe that "for lovers" these rooms are the very best!
The resort features a large fresh water swimming pool, a movie theatre, games room, a lounge bar and a poolside restaurant open for drinks and lunch. The main restaurant is located on the first floor above the reception building and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner its setting offers spectacular views accross the lagoon to Mount Otemanu.
For the energetic, the hotel offers all of the expected water sports (powered activities charged for locally) as well as tennis and badminton.
One of the unique activities at this Resort is guest participation in the upkeep and 'planting' at the Resorts' Coral Nursery. In 2001, together with a marine biologist, the Resort created an artificial reef, and has transplanted and cultivated 4000 coral colonies, which now attracts more than 70 fish species. Guests can have a hands-on experience in further preserving and nurturing the important coral that supports and sustains the sealife and the fragile ecosytems in the area. You can take tours to the donor reef to collect specimens for transplanting, have guided snorkelling tours of the nursery reef and even sponsor a Coral Biorock with your name on it for eternity!
The hotel provides a complementary shuttle boat to the main island from 8am to 11pm daily.
The Pearl Beach resort is a real treasure in an ocean of superlatives.

Although there are frequent international flights into Tahiti,
French Polynesia's international gateway to the World, there are
limited airports of embarkation to choose from, with currently only
Paris, Los Angeles, Auckland and Tokyo offering one plane air
service to Tahiti.
The international airline for French Polynesia. is Air
Tahiti Nui who operate daily flights from Paris and Los
Angeles to Tahiti and on many days there are additional fights
to/from Los Angeles. In addition they operate two weekly flights
to/from Auckland and they serve Tokyo twice a week. Their service
to New York has been temporarily suspended.
Air France has in the past offered service from
Paris, but currently is not offering it's own flights on the route
it code shares on the Air Tahiti Nui services.
Air New Zealand operates twice a week from/to
Auckland with it's own aircraft, it also operates a codeshare
arrangements with Air Tahiti Nui providing seats on their two
weekly fights from Tahiti to Auckland.
Air Cali, operate a weekly flight between Noumea
and Tahiti.
Hawaiian Airlines, provide a weekly service
between Honolulu and Tahiti, currently operating on a
Saturday/Sunday schedule.
LANChile, operate a flight twice a week from
Santiago to Tahiti via Easter Island, providing the availability to
do a great side trip from Tahiti to Easter island.
Air Tahiti, is French Polynesia's domestic
airline operates an extensive domestic flight network covering all
the countries main islands, with at least a daily service. With the
main Society islands receiving a number of flights a day, and
between Tahiti and Moorea there are departures hourly between 6am
and 6.45pm Monday to Thursday with later evening flights over the
weekends.
The less populated islands get a restricted service, so sometimes a
night stop in Tahiti may be required when connecting between these
islands.
Air Tahiti is providing the only air service
between Tahiti and the Cook islands, which they currently do twice
a week on a Tuesday and Saturday.
There are a number of aircraft and helicopters available for
private charters, but they all tend to be based in Tahiti so
arranging charters between the outer islands can be expensive as
the aircraft will originate and terminate in Tahiti, also at this
time there are no seaplanes operating in French Polynesia, which is
a little disappointing!
